Who we are

Paul Chaon founded 1889 Law PLLC with extensive legal experience as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, civil litigator, and business executive. This diverse background enables Paul to provide his clients with unique insights and creative problem solving. He focuses his practice on criminal defense, family law, serious injuries, and general civil matters.

Paul has successfully tried hundreds of cases in front of juries and judges on charges that include homicide, felony DUI, domestic violence, and stalking.  Paul has reached favorable client outcomes in trial on multiple divorce and parenting plan cases involving contentious child custody issues and substantial (million dollar plus) assets. 

Paul has represented individuals, businesses, and municipalities in state and federal courts. He has presented training to law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges. Paul is admitted to practice before all Montana State Courts and the United States District Courts in Montana.

Paul was born and raised in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University (Barrett Honors College) and his law degree from Gonzaga University.
